CELTIC DARK ALE
Dark Ale

Celtic Dark Ale - is traditional dark Welsh ale brewed and kegged by S.A. Brain at the old brewery in Cardiff, Wales since 1882.

Celtic Dark Ale – by Brain was for many years the flagship brand of the Brains range and has established itself as a firm favorite amongst the people of Wales. A distinctive ale, it is less bitter than most beers of this style and is remarkably easy to drink.

Celtic Dark Ale - is brewed using a skillful blend of pale and chocolate malts together with whole cone Fuggles and Goldings hops. The nose contains delicate hop and chocolate notes. The palate starts malty with a slight nuttiness but then gives way to a light dry finish that gives the ale its characteristic easy drinking.

Celtic Dark Ale - is a full-bodied mild ale brewed to 4.0% abv. It is dispensed using mixed gas which delivers a very smooth product yet retains the distinctive Brain’s finish.

Celtic Dark Ale - is now available in 50 liter kegs, and later this year in bottles.

Celtic Dark Ale - is wonderfully refreshing on its own or as a perfect complement to traditional pub food such as Shepherd Pie, Beef in Ale Pie, Irish Stew, casseroles and curries. It can also be used as a delicious ingredient in many pies and stews.

Celtic Dark Ale in keg – will continue to provide a deeply satisfying pint up to 6 months after purchase provided that kegs have been stored in cool conditions. In bottle, the ale will remain clear and fresh up to at least 1 year after purchase provided that it has been stored correctly.

Store at a maximum temperature of 52 degree F (11degree C).

Serve chilled at 40 - 45 degree F (6 - 8 degree C) depending on ambient temperatures.

Since the legendary days of King Arthur, Dark Ales have had a traditional place in the hearts of the Celtic nations. In Wales, the arrival of the Industrial Revolution in the early part of the 19th Century produced the new demands of an ancient people. Refreshing, quaffable ales were needed to slake the thirsts of miners, steelworkers and Dockers, but the qualities of those earlier dark brews were retained.

Celtic Dark Ale remains a legend in Wales today. Lighter than Irish Stout, it is easy to drink yet retains a real depth of character. It is still brewed by Brains’ today in the same way as it has been for over a hundred years in the heart of Cardiff, the capital city of Wales.
